Imagine you could analyze every place on earth every day from the stratosphere or lower with a reusable device carried by the wind and solar energy. Imagine internet and communication possibilities all over the world at far lower costs and space debris compared to today’s satellites. Imagine economically friendly UAVs that fulfil those long missions, which today have to be done by manned aerial carriers, like helicopters or planes, like the analysis of large areas e.g. for agriculture, resource exploration surveys, forestry and many more. These are the challenges we started to tackle. The h-aero® flight system combines the established flight concepts: airplane, helicopter and balloon. Thereby the advantages of the concepts are retained, while disadvantages are eliminated. The flight system is made of high-tech-materials (fiber composites, canvas and high-density foils). With solar cells on and under the large hull, it can fulfil 24h and autonomous flight-missions. In case of an emergency, the structure acts like a parachute. The hull is filled with helium and ensures natural buoyancy. At the same time the hull provides a comparable aerodynamic behaviour as a Frisbee. Our first carriers are made to harvest the "low hanging fruits" of this technology and to raise social acceptance. At the same time we tought it to fly autonomous.
